Picture a line starting on Ahmedabad’s south-western edge at Sarkhej, right where the SP Ring Road passes. Since the ring road loops around the city, people from almost any neighbourhood can reach the start without crossing the old city.
The line then runs south-west through farmland, reaches the Dholera Special Investment Region, and keeps going to Adhelai in Bhavnagar district.

The people behind the build
NHAI divided the work into four packages. Sadbhav Engineering handled the first two, covering 22 km and 26.52 km. GHV India built Package 3 at 22.54 km, and MKC Infrastructure took the longest stretch, Package 4, at 38.019 km.
Together, the four contracts add up to about ₹3,196 crore.
What the Dholera Ahmedabad Expressway means for the region
For the SIR, the Dholera Ahmedabad Expressway is the main artery that links it to Gujarat’s largest city. Workers, suppliers and visitors can now treat the new city as a day trip.
Dholera’s upcoming airport and the planned rail line are in the same region. At the southern end, the road links to Bhavnagar district and the coast, which matters for any industry that ships goods.

- Measure the real distance. Ask for the road distance to the nearest interchange, not the “near the expressway” line in an ad.
- Check the papers. Confirm clear title, NA (non-agricultural) status and the right approvals.
- Think long term. A city grows when jobs and people arrive, and that takes years. Nobody can honestly promise you returns.
